For 120-years a memorial to the relief of Mafeking has stood in Melba Park, in Victoria’s Lilydale. An oak tree was planted commemorate the lifting of the siege and this brass plaque placed on the fence around it:
Alas, some idiots have seen fit to steal it:
Hopefully some conscientious scrap metal dealer will raise the alarm if they try to sell it to him.
